Examples: query, "exact match", wildcard*, wild?ard, wild*rd
Fuzzy search: cake~ (finds cakes, bake)
Term boost: "red velvet"^4, chocolate^2
Field grouping: tags:(+work -"fun-stuff")
Escaping: Escape characters +-&|!(){}[]^"~*?:\ with \, e.g. \+
Range search: properties.timestamp:[1587729413488 TO *] (inclusive), properties.title:{A TO Z}(excluding A and Z)
Combinations: chocolate AND vanilla, chocolate OR vanilla, (chocolate OR vanilla) NOT "vanilla pudding"
Field search: properties.title:"The Title" AND text

When using the UI with regex to search for experiments, due to the greedy nature of the search, it consistently pops up the "ERROR Fetch Experiments failed" window when starting to use groups in regex (that is, parentheses of any kind).
Could it be updated so that if an invalid regex pattern is given, it simply highlights the search bar in red (or similar) rather than stop us while writing the search pattern? 😅

hmm that is a good point (i.e. only on enter it would actually search)

Either enter or longer timeout ? (not sure if the UI validates the regexp or the backened does)

Here, I

know

the pattern is incomplete and invalid. A less advanced user might not understand what's up.

Basically like your suggestion that if the request fails while typing instead of the error popup the search bar will turn "dark red", and on the next key stroke will be "cleaned" ?

Either one would be nice to have. I kinda like the instant search option, but could live with an ENTER to search.

I opened this meanwhile - https://github.com/allegroai/clearml-server/issues/138

Generally, it would also be good if the pop-up presented some hints about what went wrong with fetching the experiments. Here, I know the pattern is incomplete and invalid. A less advanced user might not understand what's up.

That could be a solution for the regex search; my comment on the pop-up (in the previous reply) was a bit more generic - just that it should potentially include some information on what failed while fetching experiments 😄

That is a good point, when the UI returns a pop error, you have all the info, on "toaster" messages, I guess it does not?!
As long as it does not make the toaster message too large, seems like a good idea to add

i.e.
ERROR Fetching experiments failed. Reason: Backend timeout (600s)
ERROR Fetching experiments failed. Reason: Invalid project ID
